Tonks and the Aurors

Tonks and the Aurors is a local wizard rock band led by Stephanie Anderson (EMU student). Wizard rock is based primarily off of the Harry Potter novels and is a tool through which literacy is promoted. Tonks and the Aurors have chosen AMP for their Ypsilanti premier.

For video clips and even more information on Tonks and the Aurors, visit their web site at www.myspace.com/tonksandtheaurors.

You may also catch sample performances on youtube, especially at www.youtube/wildwoody04.

The Tonks and Aurors set will be followed by the film, Wizard Rockumentary. This film, made by twin sisters out of Washington, chronicles wizard rock from late 2004 to book 7 in the Harry Potter series. You may also find more information about wizard rock at www.wizrockpedia.com.

6 Figures

6 Figures is a student arts organization at Eastern Michigan University that specializes in Play-Back Theatre. What they do is ask an audience member to tell a story. Then, one of the group members acts as a story teller while the other members are assigned to roles within the story. These roles range from acting out people to becoming inanimate objects.

Founded in the early 2000’s, 6 Figures tell stories with the respect for the storyteller with openness to creativity that is reminiscent of the improv at Second City. The performers stay true to the stories they act out, but also add characterization to emphasize the more cathartic aspects of the stories. Many of these skits hold a comic element, but can be serious as well.
Under the direction of Anita Rich, 6 Figures members, such as Ravynne Gilmore, perform as block players or instrumentalists. The block players are actors who wait on blocks to be called forth to act in a scene, while the instrumentalists are in the background adding sound effects and music to the skits.

For an enjoyable and adventurous event, check out 6 Figures during AMP.

Singer James Taylor, Jr

James Taylor, Jr. He is a singer/songwriter. He has had one professional gig with his sister/co-singer/co-writer Cynthia Begeman at Western Michigan Pride. He work in the office and service desk at KMart but am mostly a student. He writes a lot of ballads, but his favorite songs are songs with messages. His sister, Cynthia Begeman (Cynthia [Blue-Eyed Soul]) and he just recorded a collab album called "Unknown" after the song of the same name (which both of us recorded). "Unknown" is about... just that... the Unknown. I am unknown, life is unknown, happiness is unknown, and pain is unknown. All things are unknown until... we know them... we experience them... until we go out and live!Check out his videos underneath. There is more than just the one, the whole list of videos is there! OR visit http://www.youtube.com/tjamesk to see the list!I write songs all the time, and will continue working on new music.
